Who Is Gangle in The Amazing Digital Circus? The Ribbon and Her Masks Explained
14 October 2026 · 5 min read · by OCpit
Gangle is the ribbon character of The Amazing Digital Circus, voiced by Marissa Lenti: a body of red ribbons wearing a comedy mask that keeps breaking, with a tragedy mask underneath. When the comedy mask is on she is sweet and shy, when it breaks she falls apart, and the show uses that to say something real about putting on a happy face.
Who is Gangle?
Gangle is one of the humans trapped in Caine's circus with Pomni, Jax, Ragatha, Kinger and Zooble. She is the timid one: quiet, easily hurt and happiest when everyone just gets along.
- ▹Voice: Marissa Lenti.
- ▹Avatar: red ribbons and a set of interchangeable comedy and tragedy masks.
- ▹Before the circus: a fast-food manager, college dropout and aspiring artist.
- ▹Closest friend: Zooble.
The masks
Gangle's comedy mask is fragile, and it breaks constantly, very often thanks to Jax. Once it cracks, the tragedy mask is what everyone sees, and her mood goes with it. For most of the early episodes this plays as a gag. Episode 4 turns the gag inside out.
Shift manager: Fast Food Masquerade
In episode 4 (13 December 2024) Zooble gives Gangle a plastic comedy mask that will not break, which hides how low she really feels. Caine then picks a fast-food adventure and makes her shift manager, with the others as her staff. The new mask makes her manic. She snaps at Pomni, Jax and Ragatha in turn, then crashes back into depression, and Pomni quietly takes over the restaurant until closing.
Gangle throws the mask away and stumbles into traffic. Caine rescues her, then hands her a performance review that marks her down for unprofessional conduct. She hides away out of shame until Zooble persuades her to come back to the group.
A mask that can never break is not a fix. It just means nobody can see you are struggling.
Gangle and Zooble
Zooble is the person who keeps showing up for Gangle. They hand her the mask in episode 4, coax her back afterwards, and in They All Get Guns (15 August 2025) the two team up for the battle royal, where Zooble's support lets Gangle actually enjoy herself.
Gangle in the finale (spoilers)
In Remember (19 June 2026) the group learn they are brain-scanned copies who can never leave, and Jax abstracts. An abstracted Gangle appears only as one of the imagined scenarios Pomni finds inside Jax's mind. Caine returns, apologises, shows everyone their real-world counterparts and gives up control of the circus. The episode ends on the real people at a bus stop, not recognising each other.
Designing a Gangle-style OC
- ▹An object that shows the mood. A mask, a lamp, a screen face: something that changes when your OC does.
- ▹A fragile coping tool. What does your OC rely on to seem fine, and who keeps breaking it?
- ▹One friend who notices. Gangle without Zooble would be much bleaker. Give your OC a Zooble.
- ▹A job that was too much. Gangle's fast-food past feeds straight into her worst episode.
