Who Is Doma? Upper Moon 2, His Cult and Why He Feels Nothing
5 October 2026 · 7 min read · by OCpit
Doma is Upper Moon Two, the second strongest of the Twelve Kizuki, ranked below only Kokushibo. He is a cheerful, polite cult leader who freezes people with his blood and eats his own followers, and the most unsettling thing about him is that he does not feel anything at all. He is behind two of the biggest losses in the story: the Kocho sisters and Inosuke's mother.
Who is Doma?
Doma has pale hair with a dark red top, a permanent smile and rainbow eyes, with "Upper" and "Two" carved into them. He leads the Eternal Paradise Faith, a cult that has existed since his human life. Followers come to him for comfort and salvation. He tells himself that eating them is a kindness, because now they will live on inside him.
Anime viewers first see him properly at the start of the Swordsmith Village arc, where he chats happily at the Upper Moon meeting while everyone else is tense. His Japanese voice is Mamoru Miyano.
His human past
Doma was born with unusual rainbow-coloured eyes. His parents decided this meant he could hear the voice of the gods, and they made the child the centre of their religion. Adults poured out their suffering to him. He listened, smiled and felt nothing for them.
His father had many affairs. One day his mother stabbed his father to death and then poisoned herself in front of him. The child's only reaction was irritation at the blood and the smell. That emptiness never changed. When Muzan turned him into a demon, he simply kept doing what he had always done, only now he ate the people who came to him.
Akaza and Kokushibo are tragic because they lost something. Doma is frightening because there was never anything there to lose.
His powers
- ▹Cryokinesis. His Blood Demon Art turns his blood into ice: freezing clouds, ice flowers, giant ice statues and spikes.
- ▹Freezing blood mist. The fine ice he releases destroys the lungs of anyone who breathes it, which is lethal for slayers who rely on breathing styles.
- ▹Golden war fans. He fights with a pair of sharp metal fans.
- ▹Ice clones. He can make small ice copies of himself that use his techniques at full strength.
Kanae, Kotoha and Shinobu
Kanae Kocho, the former Flower Hashira, died fighting Doma. Before she died she told her younger sister Shinobu what the demon looked like, and Shinobu built the rest of her life around revenge.
Years before the story, a young mother named Kotoha Hashibira took shelter in Doma's cult with her baby. When she saw him eating followers, she ran. Cornered on a cliff, she threw her baby into the river below to save him, and Doma ate her. That baby was Inosuke.
How Doma dies (major spoilers)
In the Infinity Castle, Shinobu finds Doma and fights him, knowing she is too weak to cut off his head. That was never the plan. For over a year she had been taking wisteria poison until her whole body was saturated with it. Doma kills her and absorbs her, exactly as she intended.
Kanao, Shinobu's adopted sister, and Inosuke, who learns Doma ate his mother, keep fighting. The poison starts rotting Doma from the inside and slows his regeneration, and the two of them cut off his head. Even dying, he admits he still feels nothing. The fight between Shinobu and Doma is in Infinity Castle Part 1 (2025). The rest of it, with Kanao and Inosuke, is still to come in the films.
Writing a demon OC like Doma
- ▹Make the mask friendly. Doma is scariest when he is being nice. A demon OC who is warm, chatty and helpful while doing awful things lands harder than one who snarls.
- ▹Give them a system. His cult explains how he feeds without being hunted. Think about how your demon gets victims to come to them.
- ▹Tie them to a hero's past. Doma matters because of Kanae, Shinobu and Inosuke. Link your villain OC to someone else's wound.
Build one in the Demon Slayer OC creator, then compare him with Akaza, who hates him, and Muzan, who made them both.

Doma FAQ
Is Doma stronger than Akaza?
By rank, yes. Doma is Upper Moon Two and Akaza is Upper Moon Three. Akaza openly despises him, and Doma acts as if they are friends.
Did Doma love Shinobu?
After his death, Doma claims that he finally feels something for Shinobu and asks her to go to hell with him. She rejects him flatly. Whether it was real feeling or one more empty performance is up to you, but the story does not reward him for it.
