Who Is Shinobu Kocho? The Insect Hashira, Her Poison and Doma Explained

Shinobu Kocho is the Insect Hashira, the only Hashira too small to cut off a demon's head, so she kills them with wisteria poison instead. Behind her constant smile is one goal: revenge on Doma, the demon who killed her sister.
Who is Shinobu?

Shinobu and Kanae
A demon killed the Kocho sisters' parents when they were children, and they were saved by Gyomei Himejima, the Stone Hashira. Both sisters joined the Corps. Kanae, the older one, became the Flower Hashira and ran the Butterfly Mansion.
Then Kanae was killed in battle by Doma, Upper Moon Two. Afterwards Shinobu took on her sister's gentle, cheerful manner to keep everyone else going. The smile is borrowed. Underneath it, she hates demons.
Shinobu is not calm. She is furious, all the time, and she has decided nobody gets to see it.
The poison
Shinobu cannot behead a demon, so she makes them die from the inside. Her wisteria poisons can kill ordinary demons outright. Her expertise also helped Tamayo develop a cure for Nezuko and the drug mixture used to weaken Muzan.
The Butterfly Mansion
Shinobu runs the Butterfly Mansion, where wounded slayers recover and train. She took in girls whose families were killed by demons, including her adopted sister Kanao Tsuyuri, Aoi, and the three helpers Sumi, Naho and Kiyo.
How Shinobu dies (major spoilers)
In the Infinity Castle Shinobu finally finds Doma. She knows she cannot cut off his head, and that was never the plan. For over a year she had been taking wisteria poison until her whole body was saturated with it. Doma kills her and absorbs her, exactly as she intended.
The poison weakens him, and Kanao and Inosuke finish the job. Shinobu used her own body as the weapon her arms were not strong enough to swing. For the full fight from Doma's side, read who is Doma.
