11 October 2026 · 6 min read · by OCpit

J (Serial Designation J) is the leader of the Disassembly Drone squad in Murder Drones, the clipboard-and-corporate-speak boss of N and V, voiced by Shara Kirby. She is beaten in the Pilot, comes back with Tessa, and by the finale has picked Cyn's side. The 2026 special Meet J shows she knew more about the mission than she ever told her team.

J as squad leader

J arrives on Copper 9 in charge of N and V, sent to exterminate the Worker Drones. Where V is gleeful and N is sweet, J treats a massacre like a performance review: arrogant, abrasive and obsessed with doing the job properly. In the Pilot she restores N's memory after he forgets who Uzi is, then infects him with a corrupting virus for questioning orders. That move backfires: Uzi repairs N, and the two of them destroy J.

Heartbeat and her return with Tessa

Being destroyed does not stop J for long. In episode 2, Heartbeat, her mutated heart crawls out of her remains and becomes a worm-like monster that eats Worker Drones, and Uzi works out that J is using the Absolute Solver to rebuild herself. By episode 3, The Promening, a working J is back on Copper 9 at the side of Tessa, the human JCJenson technician.

J is the employee who keeps following the company handbook long after the company stopped being real.

Her past at the manor

Episode 5, Home, rewrites the whole squad. N's flashbacks show that N, V and J were Worker Drones at Tessa's manor on Earth, and that Cyn remodelled them into Disassembly Drones. The killer drones the show opened with were Cyn's victims first, J included.

Whose side is J on?

For a while J seems to be on the heroes' team: in episode 6, Dead End, she and Tessa ally with Uzi's group, and J stays behind to guard Tessa's ship. Then the mask slips. In episode 7, Mass Destruction, she destroys the Disassembly Drones' landing pods on Cyn's orders. In episode 8, Absolute End, she reveals her loyalty to Cyn outright and attacks Khan, Thad and Lizzy, until V turns up riding a tamed Sentinel and N and V knock her into a chasm.

Does J survive?

Yes. The chasm is not the end of her. The series closes with J alive and repairing her spaceship, with what is left of Cyn still pestering her.

The Meet J special

On 17 July 2026 Glitch released Meet J, a Murder Drones special made to promote a new merch line and written and directed by Zachary and Micah Preciado. It is set before the Pilot: J films a training video about a day in the life of her, N and V on Copper 9, all about her duties as team leader. After N and V fall asleep, J retreats to her office, Cyn calls to say she will visit soon to check on the team, and J struggles with keeping the mission's true purpose from N and V. V notices she is upset and gives her a JCJenson pen to cheer her up. It ends as the squad heads out, right where the Pilot begins.

The special matters because it reframes J. Her bossiness in the Pilot reads differently once you know she was carrying a secret, and was scared, while her teammates had no idea.

Why fans love J

  • ▹The comedy: a murder robot who talks like a LinkedIn post is funny every time.
  • ▹The betrayal: her turn in Mass Destruction and Absolute End pays off episodes of suspicion.
  • ▹The pity: Meet J shows a team leader out of her depth, which makes her harder to simply hate.
  • ▹The voice: Shara Kirby makes every corporate phrase sound like a threat.
